Exam Season

So we've hit exam season here at the school, and along with that comes various emotions for the students. Some are excited, some feel stress or anxiety, some are confident and happy. It is a season where there can be a lot riding on the outcome. I remember when I was at school, we didn't really have end of year tests while I was at primary school, but we did have the one as we left primary school. Then when I was in secondary school my school had end of year exams every year. Something that isn't normally done by most schools in England.

The big exams at the end of secondary school (G.C.S.E.s) were the ones that mattered. My regret from that period is that I did not try my hardest. For a few years it was what made me feel bad - that I could have done better if I had tried. But I also learned a lot. Your results do not define you as a person. You can be brave, strong and capable of many things. You may be a brilliant actor, musician or artist. You may be able to create marvellous woodworks, be fantastic electricians or mechanics. You may love spending time in the fields at harvest. All of them, if you love to do it, are great things to be able to do in your life. But just try your hardest. Knuckle down and study so you don't live with any regrets of what might've been. You are wonderful, beautiful creations who are capable of doing amazing and extraordinary things. Your results are not a part of you - they do not define you or your worth. They just show an aspect of what you can achieve. So always try your hardest in whatever you do and live life to the full.
