Ta-Ta For Now
So the time has come for me to post my final blogpost on this website! It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that I am leaving this precious school with the most amazing students and incredible teachers. I have loved it so so so much! There have been such beautiful moments of my time here and some amazing experiences of kindness from different people. There are people who even though I couldn't communicate with them who always showed me love and kindness. Whether that was an I.T. teacher who helped me when I was having technical difficulties, an art teacher who always made sure to greet me and had many attempts at crossing the language barrier and the music teacher who let me have free rein of the instruments when I needed them! So many teachers - Chinese teachers, maths teachers, history teachers and all who work here in some form or the other - showing me love and kindness through sometimes just a smile. Particularly I am thankful for the day when one of the sports teachers decided to practise his English one afternoon, in that occasion I found a precious friend.
I am so thankful for the English teachers they are such beautiful and incredible souls. Nina who is a fount of knowledge and is always up for a joke - it's so great to see her laughing! Cathy who is someone that you can always look up to, who has so much wisdom and supports other teachers to be the best that they can be. June who always shows great kindness in all that she does and always has a friendly word. Uuyo - who is so regal and reminds me how powerful and mighty women are - she is beautiful. Vickie who is often singing around the office which makes me smile and shows such a love for the beauty of life. Aly who is so funky and beautiful and has a precious, loving heart. Lisa who is so bubbly - I will often see her laughing about something or other and it's so lovely the vibrancy that she brings. Victoria - who is a powerhouse who is always going above and beyond for her students - she has been such a great friend to me and has taken me out on adventures with her family and friends - I am very grateful for this precious lady. Ellen, who I worked closely with on the Children's Day project has a great gentleness of spirit and a very loving and kind nature and she brings a peace to all that she does. Celia who is one of the most incredible teachers that I have ever witnessed who has such a natural beauty and grace and a dash of humour. Laura who always has a kind word, is so fun and will always be willing to explain things if necessary - she makes the office so relaxed. Carey who has such a kind and loving heart and is so generous with her time and energy for those she loves and all of the children in her care, I spent a precious Children's Day with her and she blew me away with her kindness. Licia who rocks! She is a very cool lady to have around and it's always nice to see her - I love to see her adventures. Orfila who is so precious and caring and who I had the privilege of spending part of the Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday with, she is so kind. Alice who is so friendly and has such a sweetness about her - she is always smiling. Anne who is an incredibly selfless and kind woman who is so beautiful, sweet and humble. Lily who is just about the most stylish person I have ever seen - I am in awe whenever I see how she is dressed because she always looks amazing! And she is so sweet as well. Carol who is so much fun to be around - she is always laughing and joking and brightens up the office. Adela who is so loving and kind, who has always been willing to guide me when I have been stuck with the Chinese language. Lindsay who has such a beautiful, bright smile and is such a gentle and sweet lady - it's no wonder that her students adore her. Finally a big shout out to Jeff! He has always been so kind and helpful and has supported me to be the best teacher that I can be. He has become a great friend over the past few months and has seen me in my highs a lows, when I was happy and sad. But he has always encouraged me and seen me through! Thank you Jeff for being a part of my journey!
This journey has been an incredible one with such precious children and I will miss them so much! Whether it was the Year 2s who always came to my desk just to chat about life and myself, to those who I played Hide and Seek with, those who I played tag with and catch. Some I children sat with me in the dining hall, some would come and chat with me in the courtyard as I did Chinese homework. Many children helped me with my pronunciation of the language - they all wanted their teacher to be able to speak the language. They all made every day a little bit brighter. So it is with sadness that I say goodbye, but maybe it's more of a Ta-ta for now.
My grandparents do not live near where I do - they live in a town outside of London, whereas I am from the countryside hills of Devon. I would see them a few times a year. Every time we said goodbye, my grandmother would say "Ta-ta for now". And it means goodbye but we will see you again. And even as my siblings and I have got older we still go to see our grandparents whenever we can even with the distance that has come from me and my sister having moved away from England. Because Ta-ta for now means it's not a forever goodbye and you will see them again.
I am excited for this next adventure that I am going on - I am going to be studying at the university! I will be studying Chinese which will be so useful and I look forward to the day when I will be able to speak Chinese fluently and communicate with everyone that I come into contact with while I am here. So to this precious school filled with incredible people, I say "Ta-ta for now." (I thought I would leave you all with some photos of my favourite places back home in the U.K.) |
