Exciting visitors!
This week I was teaching grades 5 and 6 again! The grade 6 classes were learning all about problems and how to give advice. The students were as open and keen to learn as ever, they are always such a joy to teach! Grade 5 learnt about how Mocky, a character from their learning book, was having a bad day! Grade 5 are also always so enjoyable to teach! In both sets of classes we played many games, like ‘what’s missing’, the ‘touch’ game, and working in pairs to solidify their conversational techniques. I had so much fun this week. This week also saw the arrival of students from South Korea, amazing! I taught a class with Celia, and we themed the lesson on food. The students arrived for the morning lesson, around 8:30, then Celia and I welcomed them into our restaurant. Due to my being from England and Celia being from China, I learnt as much about special Chinese dishes as the Korean students did, it was very interesting for us all. The lesson began with Celia introducing some Chinese dishes, playing a guessing game with the children. The Korean students were very knowledgeable on the different Chinese and English foods. Then the lesson moved on and it was my chance to teach them how to make a typical English sandwich! I took the students through the steps of how to make a ham and cheese sandwich and each pair of students did very well and made some delicious sandwiches. They were very keen to eat them so not many pictures could be taken before all the food was scoffed down! I had the opportunity to speak with some of the students and they each seemed to enjoy the sandwich, which was nice! I also got to speak to some of the Korean students about wrestling, it was enjoyable for me to bond with this new group of students and help my fellow teachers make sure the children had the best time on their trip. I am so lucky to be working at a school that is so international, it was a very enjoyable, informative, and interesting day for me! |
