Finally!
Grades 2 and 3 I finally had the opportunity to teach grade 3 more in depth! The students were learning about the phonetic ‘i’. Being that they were so young, they started off struggling with the difference between ‘I’ and ‘i’, but with a little help from the class teacher we got there soon enough! In one of Victoria's classes, one boy even started the lesson by doing a recap of last week's story Dan the Ant. He did incredibly and his English was so good! Teaching younger ages is always a favourite of mine, they are full of joy and eager to learn (as are the older ages!), and it is nice to aid them with their English language at the beginning stages of their educational career. As usual, we played many games to help solidify the new vocabulary through active learning, the children get so competitive it is very fun for me. Grade 2 were learning all about animals, but the animals I picked to teacher them were too easy for them! After discussing with one of the teachers we decided to try teaching the lesson as grade 3, seeing if the lesson was too difficult for them or not. It turned out it was the perfect level for the children, some words they already knew, and this gave them the confidence to learn more of the vocabulary. The lesson was all about a little boy and how his friend missed him because he was stuck at home sick! The story was called; Nick is Sick. I had a brilliant time teaching grade 3 and I hope they enjoyed it just as much! |
