The Quality Breaking Through Reflects New Evaluation Method

It was a cold winter morning on Jan.4th and we saw the students of Grade 2 was taking part in the activity ‘Quality Breaking’.

In the early morning, some parents went to Tanghu Elementary School to receive the training and then went into classroom to lead the students to the place to wait for the beginning of this activity. Every student went through the door confidently and happily.

The activity ‘Quality Breaking’ had three main part for three subject: Chinese, math, and English. For example, Chinese has three level. Leve 1: Read the words. It is designed to check if they can enrich their vocabulary. Level 2: Recite the ancient Chinese. It’s aimed to check if they know Chinese classics. Level: Be an orator. It’s designed to check language competence. Math also had three level. Level1-Run after you. It’s designed for the basic training of oral calculating. Level 2:Brainstormming. It’s designed for imaginal thinking. Level 3: A skillful worker. It’s designed for operational ability.

The Quality Breaking for English had two parts: King for Words and Little diplomatist. The first part is designed to courage students to read the words on the English textbook and check if they master the key words. The second part is aimed to encourage students to speck in English and communicate with others. What’s more, they can know some other culture. Above all, children not only showed their outstanding talents but also developed their character. They have learned how to behave in order.

At present, we know the importance of changing the evaluation method for students. We are trying to establish a comprehensive evaluation method for everyone. Good evaluation can encourage students to study hard and improve their comprehensive quality. The teaching and research group of Grade 2 used the new method to assess students’ abilities. They said ‘we always keep in mind that muti-development leads to success’.
