Learning English by Playing-- Miss Ni's Teaching and Research Group

  On the November 7th, the Jiujiang Elementary School was overcast by the morning fog. The sun through the gap between the leaves, through early fog, a plume on the campus. The Group Leader—Ni Xiaoqiong and her group members came to Jiujiang Elementary school for their topic research.

  The first lesson was given by the new English teacher—Xie Dingwen, who teaches ‘M7U2 What’s that?’ Although Mr. Xie is a new teacher in the Tanghu Elementary School, he tried his best in his teaching and other teachers have witness his progress. In this lesson, he adopts the TPR Model and teach students to play games and sing songs. Students feel happy in the whole class.

  The second lesson was performed by the English teacher Lu Yin and her students. The topic of this lesson is ‘The Magic Egg’. Miss Lu had a clear teaching procedure in her mind. He lead students in this lesson by her wishes on her birthday. And she raised a question ‘What do I wish?’  From her wish to the major character’s wish, she organized the whole story by the mind-map. Her teaching strategies not only help students learnt knowledge and understand the story but only arouse students’ interest. After the presentation, most of the students can retell the story and can express their wishes.

In addition, the English teacher in Jiujiang Elementary School—Lan Shiqin brought a lecture ‘Games for the junior stage in a primary school’. She states some principles for designing games as follows: 1.The context of games should be fit for the teaching purposes. 2. Every game should have clear rules. 3. Games should be challenging and enlightening. 4. Games should be flexible and multiple. 5. Games should be communicative. Then she gave detailed analysis of the teaching cases.

In the end, the group leader, Ms Ni gave a summary report. Firstly, she raised two questions: 1. How many games designed by Xie Ding wen in the first lesson? 2. If the teacher pay attention to the reading ability of the students, yes or not? And all the members took part in the discussion according to the two questions. Then she warmly recommended a popular book named 《I am not afraid to be such a tough girl》 and encouraged the young colleagues to work hard for a bright future!
