In early autumn, with a bright sky, in this beautiful season, the first professional training of the new semester occured. On August 29, at 2 PM, dozens of English teachers from Tanghu primary school, south district of Tanghu primary school, Jujiang primary school came to the third floor conference room. They were there to listen to the professional training that was given by Ms Shang. The title of this professional training was ‘my opinion of picture books; reading and teaching’.

There were four themes throughout this lecture, including; the origin of this topic, about the questions, how to ask a question, and front direction. Firstly, Ms Shang gived us a question that was thought provoking. It was ‘how to ask a question’. Every teacher was caught in deep thinking. Mr Zhang from Tanghu primary school foreign affairs spoke about his own understanding. He said:“We should ask effective questions.”Ms Xia from south district of Thanghu primary school said:“The questions should be logical.”Ms Zhao from Tanghu primary school said:“Questions should be nesessary.”Teachers’ opinions were summarized by Ms Shang.

Next, Ms Shang reviewed her feelings about some teaching and researching activities. She said, “we should seek out areas for improvement”. We had many things to do, we didn’t lag behind. We could even surpass others. Ms Shang interacted with the teachers while she was speaking. The teachers were very enthusiastic. Teachers reflected on their own teaching while they were listening. After finishing talking about the meaning of asking essential questions, Ms Shang introduced three different kinds of questions. She explained the differences between them and when to use them.

The teachers knew the meaning of asking questions, types of questions, and how to ask questions. Ms Shang explained question chain, cooperative teaching, diverse study, and mind maps. At last, Ms Shang shared the phonics teaching experience of Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School with teachers.

During this three-hour lecture, Ms Shang with grace and passion showed teachers professional theoretical knowledge. Teachers studied excellent teaching experience. Teachers harvested this highly and had deep impressions. “Excellent research is actually done.”“We should be good at summary, accumulant, discovery.”The training came to an end, but our teaching is just getting started. From now on, let’s set sail with the knowledge learned from today.
