The Interesting English Picture Book Reading Teaching

    The teacher Liang Shanshan from English teaching group gave a class on English picture book reading on 28th February 2017, demonstrating our efforts to encourage our students to read happily.

   The leader teacher Che Shuang addressed a speech on “love reading” of the emphasis on reading English picture books. Teacher Liang then gave a training of students’ ability to listen speak and act via the animated class on the topic of “The Surprise”. Under her guidance, students paid much attention on observation and deep meaning of the elite book. Great teaching effect has been got because of their independent thinking and active cooperation.

   She reviewed the word about animals and the training and application on lateral thinking ensued which spurred students to guess and describe what was happened among characters.

Before the reading:

During the reading:

1.the first step: scanning the book with imagination

Students scanned the book to understand the plot of the story.

2.the second step: understanding the book with questions

The teacher asked students to open the book and find three wishes which help them to draw more information from the book.

3.the third step: reading the book with expectation

Mrs. Liang first read the article for students and then vise versa.

4.the third step: describing the story with emotions

It was the most interest part to guide students to imitate and retell the story.

5.the final step: sharing with others with appreciation

Mrs. Liang enabled students to understand and apply words and sentences via various kinds of

method such as using the pictures. Students were encouraged to gain more interest in happy

reading.

The principal Li draw a conclusion of this activity and came up with questions such as what’s the value of English picture book reading and what’s the distinction between the whole book reading and a single article.

All teachers from English group brought up their own ideas and made a consensus that picture book reading improved English comprehensive ability including listening speaking and writing.

The last but not least was to spur student’s interest in English reading. It is our honor to make students’ school life better via this happy reading.
