Brainstorm about Different Strategies in One Class for the Same Teaching Dream

On October 14th 2016, ten teachers from Tanghu Elementary School went to the beatiful city of Changsha where our great Chairman Mao Zedong was born. Filled with expectation, they came to the scene of this activity “Let’s teach the same lesson”. At first, Deng Shixiu, who comes from Changsha, gave her lesson “An extensive view of mathematics-sudoku”. Ms. Deng’s class began with some interesting tasks of judging right or wrong to help the students have a brief understanding about the rules of sudoku and stimulate their interest in class. Next, Jiang Lian from Shenzhen gave the same teaching theme as Ms. Deng’s. The students had many activities in her exploration-based class to develop their abilities of observation, imagination, operation and verification. Thus, more different ways of thinking and better ideas sprung out after those brainstorm. After class, Li Yiming , as a teaching researcher from Shenzhen, and the guest Chen Hongjie, Deputy Editor of “Math Teachers in Elementary School”, gave their comments about the classes. The two teachers designed their class based on students’ abilities and proper envision of teaching materials, which met different levels of students. Finally, Principal Cheng led our teacher to have a heated discussion about teaching strategies on math. As teachers, we should pay more attention to students’ different levels of ability in class and try to guide students to solve their problems or tasks.
