Fourth week in Tanghu, farm animals galore!

    This week I taught the Year 4's again. It was so lovely to see all the classes I taught the other week again, especially since so many of them remembered my name and the activities we played. This week we did some simple vocab for them. We did a recap of farm animals, and did a basic lesson on what to call the various baby versions of each animal. The children all loved learning about puppies and kittens (baby dogs and cats), but less so about pigs and sheep (piglets and lambs)!

     After learning about baby animals, we made a farm as a class activity. This involved drawing empty fields, and the children then drawing animals that live on a farm, and crops that grow on a farm. The children all had an amazing time imagining themselves what makes up a farm, and then learning vocab such as “… live on a farm”, and “… grow on a farm”. Some of the photos of the farms the children built are shown here. They all enjoyed this activity, and learned to know the difference between live and grow. Although some of the children drew pictures of animals such as penguins, this was used as a learning experience to talk about the differences between farm animals and wild animals.  My only wish is that every class learns as much from, and gets such enjoyment from, this class!
