At first, Luoman, from Jiujiang Elementary School, gave a lesson about the picture book “Dear little fish”. Ms. Luo began her class with guessing a picture, and then her vivid discription led the pupils into a beautiful story about the sweet love between a little fish and a little cat. Later, the pupils were encouraged to imagine and create a new story about the little fish and the little cat and they had a good understanding about the love in the story. To our surprise, the pupils had great potential abilities in reading and speaking. And we would be more determined to say that there exist the most beauties in picture books.

To arouse the pupils’ interests, Ms. Huang told a story about wolves, which brought the class into a amazing magical world. Ms. Huang led the pupils to have a detailed analysis of the story and create their own stories with a question “What would the little green wolf become if the little fairy waved her wand again?”

At last, all the teachers in the meeting shared their opinions about teaching picture books. Jang Jinru who came from Scu Xihanggang Experimental Primary School put up with her ideas in three points, the characteristics of picture books, the relationship between writing and picture books, teaching strategies on picture books. And Director Zhumei shared her opinions about misunderstanding of teaching picture books such as reading the words, analyzing the story and questioning about the story. And some more valuable ideas came from Deng Huimin, Principle Qiao Xiuping and Luoli.

Picture books play a great role in teaching writing and reading because they are in line with the characteristics of pupils and the pupils can find the beauty of life and even create their new colorful world.
