This week I got to experience something pretty amazing! Women's Day! Although I have heard of International Women's Day, it has never been really high on my wavelength because you see in the UK it just isn't really celebrated! There may be some shout outs on social media to important women in your life, but as a country, not much is done! So imagine my surprise when I walk into the school gates and I am met by some male teachers who just want to love on me by giving me a gift and taking a photo with me, just for the simple fact that I am a woman and they are celebrating me! What love and kindness that are shown by the men here! They stepped up in order to show the women around them that they are of worth and are valued and I think that that is such a beautiful thing! Then throughout my classes, being given flowers and little chocolates by students who were so eager to celebrate me, as a woman. And what love from the parents to allow their children to do that! It just shows the love and kindness within the people here.

Then in the afternoon, with the school closed we went on an adventure as an English department! So exciting! I'm still not entirely sure where we went but I do know that it was more rustic and there were more fields about than I was becoming accustomed to! It was lovely to share a meal together and to then go on a walking adventure together. The children got to ride a pony and we were able to see the beautiful fields together. We also took an adventure to the town and the market area. All of these were such new experiences for me! Trying locally sourced fruit, seeing the various breads and cakes and trying the flavours of Jelly. Whoever thought that corn flavoured Jelly was a good idea needs to check out their taste buds! That in itself was an experience that I won't be trying again! We then partook of another meal together which was lovely to close the evening! I find that I am quickly finding which dishes I do like and which I never want to eat again! Haha! In all it was a beautiful day! A day that was about celebrating together the uniqueness that is ourselves... and that is something that we should treasure!
