The Right Direction
Friday. In today's experience of Tanghu elementary, I had the privilege of witnessing classes that really showed me the benefit of time management and student's involvement. I have witnessed the importance of having the students' attention which is made easier by the use of certain apparatus such as the microphone headset, something which I think I will most likely need to invest in! In June's class I saw how effective it can be when the children are actively involved in coming up to the board to write up answers and when this is used in quick succession such as in writing out numbers then this actually is a way of effectively keeping students on their toes and keeping them engaged with what is going on within the class. The use of repetition, listening and responding are great ways in which to cement what the children are learning in their minds. I think this class also worked well as there were opportunities within the class to practise nouns and numeracy together whilst still being involved within the same topic. This all round approach means that students are better able to use what they are learning practically in real life situations which is really the aim that we want. In Victoria's class I witnessed a fantastic assortment of activities and engaging tasks for the children to get involved with. It was highly fast paced with the children having the opportunity to get involved in various aspects of the class. I think that one of the things that I love here is just how much the children want to get involved, whether that is in answering questions, working within their pairs or groups or playing the interactive games, these students seem to have a zest for the life within the classroom and seeing them thrive is actually so heart-warming! I actually learned a lot of new games and activities within this class that I had not come across before such as the train game which meant that various students could put into practise what they had learned within the lesson, so this is something that I hope I will be able to take into classes with me also. |
